In the midst of racial conflict involving law enforcement in the state and nationwide, a group of Mississippians is coming together for a dialogue and opening of hearts and minds. Gov. Phil Bryant is in that group, and he joined Mission Mississippi yesterday in declaring October “Racial Reconciliation Celebration Month.” Mission Mississippi is a Christian group promoting racial healing in the state. Gov. Bryant tells MPB’s Desare Frazier some of our symbols of racial difference — such as the state flag — might help start important conversations.
